My name is Jordan Neal, and I’m a dedicated Sports Media Reporter with nine years of experience in print journalism.

For the past seven and a half years, I’ve served as the Sports Editor at The Bowie News, where I am solely responsible for covering varsity sports across seven school districts on a twice-weekly deadline. I’ve built strong professional relationships with coaches, athletic staff, community leaders, and my editorial team—relationships that enhance the depth and accuracy of my reporting.

While I can’t be everywhere at once, I go the extra mile to ensure fair, consistent, and comprehensive coverage for all teams I cover. Whether it’s posting extra game photos or capturing post-game interviews with standout players, I take pride in delivering more than what’s expected to serve our readers and local sports communities.

In 2021, The Bowie News earned first place in sports coverage in the Texas Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest—a testament to the dedication and quality I bring to my work.

I earned my degree in Sports Media from Oklahoma State University, where I contributed to the Stillwater High School Pioneers Football website, served as the beat writer for OSU Women’s Golf, and covered high school football for the Stilly Post. My experience included writing game recaps, feature stories, previews, round updates, and tournament summaries.

Following graduation, I spent two and a half years as the Sports and Education Reporter at The Kaufman Herald, continuing my commitment to high school sports journalism. 

I’m originally from the Dallas area and graduated from Midlothian High School in 2009.
